Pedestrian Killed in Clearwater Crash
Police say a woman was crossing Gulf Boulevard when she was hit by a truck.

CLEARWATER, FL — A 78-year-old Clearwater woman is dead following a Wednesday morning crash on Gulf Boulevard.
According to Clearwater Police, Arlene Anderson was crossing the 1500 block of Gulf Boulevard just before 8:30 a.m. when she was hit by a truck. Police say Anderson was in a crosswalk with the crosswalk lights activated at the time.
Anderson was taken to Bayfront Health with what were initially believed to be non-life threatening injuries, an email from police said. She, however, died Wednesday afternoon.

The driver of the Ford F150 involved in the crash, Steven Marteeny, 49, of Zephyrhills told police he did not see Anderson.
“Neither speed nor alcohol appear to be a factor,” police wrote in an email to media.

The investigation into the crash continues. No charges have been announced as of yet.
