Pinellas Reclaimed Watering Restrictions In Effect

North and south Pinellas County residents have different reclaimed water schedules according to the new restrictions.

CLEARWATER, FL – The autumn dry season has returned and Pinellas County has enacted its seasonal reclaimed watering restrictions for its residents.

However, because of supply fluctuation in both the north and south county reclaimed water systems, the restrictions schedule for reclaimed water users will be different for the different regions. While the Pinellas County restrictions officially run from Sunday, Oct. 1 through Thursday, Nov. 30, North County reclaimed water restrictions officially begin Tuesday, Oct. 17.

Effective on this date, North County reclaimed water customers are restricted to irrigating two days per week based on property address:

  • Addresses ending in an even number can water on Tuesday and/or Saturday
  • Addresses ending in an odd number can water on Wednesday and/or Sunday
  • Parcels with mixed or no address, such as common areas associated in a subdivision, can water on Wednesday and/or Sunday

North County reclaimed water irrigation is prohibited between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on authorized days.

Because irrigation is prohibited on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, Pinellas County will shut down the North County reclaimed water system on these days as needed. The system will also be shut down from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on all days for supply recovery.

According to Pinellas County Utilities, reclaimed water is a limited resource because of water usage, weather fluctuations and the system’s capacity. The department encouraged its customers to follow restrictions throughout the year to promote a sustainable Florida lawn and landscape, along with other suggestions:

  • Learn about and apply Florida-Friendly Landscaping practices
  • Watering only when grass and plants start to wilt
  • When needed, water deeply to encourage deep, drought-tolerant root systems.
