1. Clearwater Beach is in the running for "Best Florida Beach Town," according to a USA Today poll based on "Dr. Beach" Stephen P. Leatherman's favorite beach destinations in Florida. Have you voted in the poll?
2. A four-fot sandwall is part of a $200,000 project to bring upgrades to the Rockaway Parking Lot on north Clearwater Beach. Another part was the demolition of the "Pier to Nowhere" that was between Frenchy's Rockaway and the Palm Pavilion.

3. Before the South Carolina Gamecocks play the University of Michigan Wolverines in the Outback Bowl at Raymond James Stadium they hit Clearwater Beach. Wayne Cathel, of Belleair Images, shared some pictured from the traditional Clearwater Beach Day on the Clearwater Patch Facebook page.
4. Clearwater Police officers were stationed throughout the city on the lookout for impaired drivers during New Year's. Officers arrested and charged three drivers with driving under the influence, issued 33 speeding tickets and arrested six others for misdeameanor crimes, according to police.
