75-Year-Old Woman Killed When 18-Year-Old Runs Red Light: Sheriff

The crash occurred at Belcher and Curlew roads in Dunedin Wednesday night.

DUNEDIN, FL — An 18-year-old has been charged with vehicular homicide after investigators said he ran a red light and crashed into a car at Belcher and Curlew roads in Dunedin Wednesday night, killing the 75-year-old driver.

According to the Pinellas County sheriff, around 10:50 p.m., 18-year-old Dominic Rampi was driving a 2011 BMW 335I south on Belcher Road at a high rate of speed. As he approached Curlew Road, he ran a red light and crashed into the side of a Dodge Charger driven by 75-year-old Marion Miller, who was headed east on Curlew Road with a green light.

The Dodge Charger then struck a 2010 Mazda 3 driven by 38-year-old Rachel Worley.

Miller was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. Rampi was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening. Worley was uninjured.

According to investigators, speed and impairment appear to be factors in the crash. Rampi has been charged with one count of vehicular homicide.
