78-Year-Old Man Struck By Vehicle While Walking In Crosswalk

A 78-year-old man was taken to the hospital in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Skinner Boulevard.

DUNEDIN, FL — A 78-year-old man was taken to the hospital in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Skinner Boulevard.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, at 7:25 a.m. Monday, Thomas Murtaugh was crossing Skinner Boulevard in the designated crosswalk when he was struck by a Toyota Rav 4 driven by Jennifer O'Rourke, 31, of Tarpon Springs.

Investigators said O'Rourke came to a stop on the west side of the crosswalk before accelerating through the crosswalk. She told deputies she did not see Murtaugh until she struck him with the passenger side fender of her Toyota.

Speed and impairment do not appear to be factors in this crash.
