Looking for a great place to put up guests in Dunedin?

We all know Dunedin is a great place to visit. And we love it when our friends and family come to town. We just don’t always want them to actually stay in our homes. But how do we get that across without sounding, you know, a little rude…?

Here’s an idea: strongly suggest they stay at the Mai Tai Suites. Owners John and Karen Bickford offer fully furnished 850-square-foot 2-bed, 1-bath suites for less than the price of a hotel.

Here are the top 3 stories in Dunedin today:

  1. Those in Tampa Bay may get to see the Perseid meteor shower this weekend! Considered one of the best meteor shows of the year, viewers will get the chance to see between 50 and 100 shooting stars and a few fireballs in an hour. The best time to see them will be Saturday evening. (Dunedin Patch)
  2. Tweens and teens between 9 and 14 are invited to the MLK Jr. Recreation Center on Aug. 25 between 7 p.m. and midnight for Midnite Madness. Participants can choose from various activities, including skating, laser tag, and taking on extreme inflatables. Kids will also get to enjoy mini scooter and skate jams, music, giveaways, and a snack food buffet. Those interested must register by Aug. 24. (Dunedin Gov)
  3. It looks like Dunedin Merchants has canceled the cancellation of the Wine the Blues Festival! In a recent statement, they said, "Thanks to the incredible determination of our community, the event has been saved," and is scheduled for Nov. 11. "This year's event will take us back to our grassroots, a community-driven effort that reminisces the early days of the event." Read their full statement at the link! (Jazz Blues Florida)

  • In anticipation of hurricane season, City Arborist Craig Wilson helps deter fears of property damage caused by falling trees. According to Wilson, "trees are more often victorious than they are failures." If you're concerned about the trees surrounding your property, read Wilson's post and learn what can be done.
