- Meet Craig Haumann, Dunedin post office's new postmaster! Haumann began his career as a letter carrier in St. Petersburg 24 years ago, moving up through the ranks as a supervisor, manager, and postmaster in Safety Harbor. Originally from the Midwest, Haumann moved to Florida in 1984. Congratulations, and welcome to Dunedin! (Tampa Bay Newspapers)
- Kids between 9 and 14 are invited to a Trendy Treats event on Aug. 18 between 6:30 and 8:30 at the MLK Jr. Recreation Center. The "Wacky Taste Testers" will create two viral food sensations, including biscuit pizza waffles. Register your kids online at the link to participate. (Dunedin Gov)
- The Backpack Lady Project, a nonprofit founded by Dunedin resident Rob Ditro, will donate 2,000 backpacks to students in need in Pinellas and Pasco counties. Ditro started the organization to honor his late mother, Phyllis, after discovering that she had been anonymously donating backpacks full of school supplies for years. The photos show Silva Cells being installed, which are "flexible, modular soil containment systems that allow street trees to continue growing their roots in an urban setting."
