Here are the top stories today in Dunedin:

  1. Pinellas County officials are asking state lawmakers to support an effort to get federal funding to replace the Dunedin Causeway. The bridge connects Bayshore Boulevard to
Honeymoon Island and is in need of an upgrade after being used for almost 60 years. Pinellas commissioners will vote December 7 on the 2022 State Legislative Program, which includes plans for the $80 million bridge replacement. (Subscription: Tampa Bay Business Journal)
  2. Dunedin's new Highlander Aquatic Center is officially underway with input from locals being taken into consideration. While designs haven't been finalized, a new bathhouse with a multipurpose room for meetings and parties is likely to be included. Officials are also considering adding a therapeutic pool. While they want the facility to have equipment designed for "fun swim" as well as "competitive swim,” their overall goal is to make sure the new aquatic center draws in Dunedin residents. (Tampa Bay Newspapers)
  3. Images taken by dozens of professional and amateur photographers are on display at the Dunedin Fine Art Center now through December 23. "One Day Tampa Bay" is an annual event where photographers capture moments around Tampa Bay during a single 24-hour period. The project was launched in 2016 and has since attracted many local artists. This year, over 800 photos were submitted and whittled down to just 80 that are now on display in the gallery. (Patch)
  4. A year after the pandemic forced organizers to restrict the number of attendees, the Dunedin Celtic Music and Craft Beer Festival came back at full force. Last year's event was a much smaller version of the annual festival in Highlander Park lacking both a VIP section and main stage. This year, however, the event was back to normal, and despite the rain, crowds came out to enjoy the food, live music, and beer. (TBN Weekly)
