Here are the top stories in Dunedin today:
- Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco Counties recently closed on a 6.96-acre piece of property in Largo intended for affordable housing. It plans to build up to 57 townhomes for program participants. This will be the organization's largest project to date, much larger than the 19-unit community it built in Dunedin. (TBN Weekly)
- Pinellas County commissioners continue discussions on how American Rescue funding will be spent. So far, proposed plans revolve around improving the sheriff’s mental health squad, forming a coordinated access model, capital improvement projects for nonprofits, plans for the Joe’s Creek Greenway Trail and Raymond Neri Park, recreational facilities in unincorporated Seminole, transitioning county septic tanks to the sewer system, updates to the Gulf Terrace and Rainbow Village infrastructure, electric vehicle infrastructure, and a regional fire training center. Some projects are expected to be approved right away so work can begin as soon as possible. (Tampa Bay Newspapers)
- Owners of The Dunedin Smokehouse, Marti and Tracy Moulson, have opened a new restaurant in Safety Harbor. The Brinehouse is located at 100 Main Street and will offer unique entrees that focus on the art of brining and marinating. The kitchen will be run by Chef Tony Bruno, the original chef of The Dunedin Smokehouse and The Living Room. Some menu items include Angus beef tri-tip steak made with coffee brine and topped with mushroom ancho chili sauce, Duroc pork tenderloin with garlic cumin brine drizzled with cherry pepper barbecue sauce, bourbon barbecue chicken marinated in a maple bourbon brine, and grilled salmon filet marinated in smoked salt and coated in a pumpkin seed crust. Yum! (Patch)
