  1. Local resident Elizabeth White shared a tragic story about the death of her pup with Dunedin Patch, leading to a new informative seminar at the Dunedin Public Library. Toxic Plants and Your Pets will be held on Sept. 12 at 6 p.m., led by veterinarian Tracy Morris and urban horticulture agent Theresa Badurek. White's beagle, JoJo, passed after ingesting the toxic seeds of a cardboard plant, which is often used in landscaping. Before this incident, White had no idea the plant could be deadly for pets and children. (Dunedin Patch)
  2. The Honu is hosting Music for Maui to help raise money for those impacted by the Maui fires on Sept. 9 between noon and 10 p.m. Guests will enjoy live music, a special menu offering Hawaiian specialties and cocktails, a silent auction, and a 50-50 raffle. All proceeds will be split between the Maui Food Bank and the Maui Humane Society. (Tampa Bay Times - Subscription required)
  3. A new culinary arts program at the Dunedin Fine Art Center has been opened for members of The Arc Tampa Bay, which offers assistance for intellectually and developmentally disabled adults. The program is designed to provide students with customized training in food preparation, basic cooking skills, sensory awareness, and teamwork to help them find jobs in a commercial kitchen or related field. Classes are held at the DFAC on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. (Dunedin Patch)
