5 FL Teens Found Dead In Submerged Vehicle: Fort Myers Police

Five teenagers were killed after their vehicle became submerged in a retention pond following a crash, Fort Myers police said.

FORT MYERS, FL — Five teenagers lost their lives overnight Sunday after their vehicle became submerged in a retention pond along Top Golf Way, the Fort Myers Police Department wrote in a Facebook post.

Eric Paul, 19; Jackson Eyre, 18; Amanda Ferguson, 18; Breanna Coleman, 18; and Jesus Salinas, 18, were found dead in the vehicle on Monday, police said.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life in the incident involving a submerged vehicle and our hearts go out to the families and friends of the (five) teens involved,” the agency wrote. “Although we are your Fort Myers Police Department, at the end of the day we are mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters, and our hearts are heavy for these (five) families.”

Four of the teens worked together at Texas Roadhouse, according to the News-Press.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of four of our Roadies,” the restaurant wrote on its Facebook page. “Our team is grieving alongside their families and friends. We appreciate the support of our Ft. Myers community during this difficult time.”

Investigators are seeking information regarding the events that led up to the single-vehicle traffic crash that resulted in their deaths.
