CAPE CORAL, FL — Local firefighters are used to rescuing ducks that have fallen down storm drains, but they experienced a whole new kind of duck rescue on Monday.

First responders were called in to help a trio of baby ducks who found themselves stuck in the soffit of a home’s roof, Cape Coral Fire Rescue wrote in a Facebook post.

Since it was a new construction home, it’s likely that the mother duck had a nest in the attic and the soffit installers unknowingly trapped them in the attic, the agency said.

Firefighters were able to reunite the babies with their mom, “who will hopefully select a nesting place closer to the ground in the future,” CCFR wrote.
