NORTH FORT MYERS, FL — An 84-year-old woman was hospitalized after a gator attacked her while she was walking her dog Thursday night in Southwest Florida, according to multiple reports.

Del Boppel was walking her pup, Queen, near a pond in her North Fort Myers mobile home park when she felt like there were eyes on her.

“All of a sudden, I had a premonition, I’m telling you,” Boppel told WBBH. “It was like, ‘uh-uh.’”

In order to save her dog, as well as herself, she punched the 7-foot gator in the face — but not before he took a chunk from her leg and fingers

“My shower’s right there,” a neighbor said in Lee County Sheriff’s Office bodycam footage obtained by WINK. “I opened up the window to let the heat out, and I heard somebody screaming and screaming.”

The gator was caught by a nuisance alligator trapper and “humanely euthanized,” according to NBC News

"She's lucky she didn't lose her life," another neighbor told the News-Press.
