The female driver of the car was able to escape the crash; however, the passenger remained trapped until a deputy rescued him.

FORT MYERS — A Lee County deputy is getting recognition after rescuing a trapped man from a car that recently flipped into a water-filled ditch at North Cleveland Avenue.
The crashed happened around 11:45 p.m. Sunday. Authorities said the driver of the vehicle was able to climb out of the car, but the passenger remained trapped inside of it.
Body cam footage released Monday by the Lee County Sheriff's Office shows Deputy Layne Reeves breaking a window and digging the passenger out of the partially submerged car. In the 1 minute and 19 second clip, Reeves could be seen pulling the man through the window with the assistance of another deputy.
