Venice Man Charged In String Of Commercial Burglaries: Police
A Venice man is accused of a string of commercial burglaries in Cape Coral, Fort Myers and Sarasota County, police said.

VENICE, FL — A Venice man is responsible for a string of commercial burglaries that took place in Cape Coral and Fort Myers, authorities said.
Aaron Michael Moence faces multiple charges, including five counts of throwing a deadly missile into a building, five counts of burglary of a structure, five counts of criminal mischief and three counts of petit theft, according to a Cape Coral Police Department news release.
He’s also a suspect in smash-and-grab burglaries in Sarasota County, the agency said.

The rash of burglaries took place in July 2022. Investigators identified Moench as a suspect.
During a surveillance operation, detectives caught Moench in the act of burglarizing a hardware store in Fort Myers, CCPD said.

Fort Myers police were told about the break-in and responded to the store. Members of the CCPD’s property crimes unit helped Fort Myers officers with the arrest.
After he bonded out of jail, Cape Coral detectives connected him with other burglaries, but he had already left the area before they could find him, police said.
Warrants were issued for Moench’s arrest and the U.S. Marshals Service was able to find him out of state and arrest him.
He was brought to Lee County Jail on Aug. 5.
