Is Low-Pressure Zone Headed Toward Florida?

We're in for a soggy week in Gulfport and across the Tampa Bay region.

The National Weather Service is keeping a watchful eye on a low-pressure zone near the Yucatan Peninsula that could reach Florida mid-week, bringing heavy rain, flooding, gusty winds and tornadoes.

According to the National Weather Service, "this system has the potential to bring multiple hazards to the region this week."

Meanwhile, a hazardous weather outlook has been issued for Monday in the Tampa Bay region, stretching across Pinellas County.

Thunderstorms are in the forecast for Monday and Monday night, with the chance of cloud-to-ground lightning and some minor flooding. Afternoon thunderstorms are expected to continue throughout the week.

The forecast for rain and thunder extends from Sarasota County to Tarpon Springs.
