Maddy G Realty Opens in Gulfport

Meet one of the newest real estate businesses in downtown Gulfport.

Gulfport native Maddy Guenther is well known for her namesake, O'Maddy's Bar & Grille. The businesswoman bought and named the restaurant 24 years ago. Since then, her husband, Joe, has taken over the popular beachfront bar and grille, and she opened Bo-Tiki on Beach Boulevard.

Now, she's going back to her roots as a realtor with her newest business, Maddy G Realty.

"I love real estate," Guenther said.

In addition to mother, wife and business owner, she carries the title of real estate broker as well. Guenther was in real estate for 15 years, even owning her own company, Gateway to the Gulf Realty. She sold that business and joined Weichert Realtors, a national company a few years back. Then, she took a break.

"Now is the time," Guenther said.

Guenther says she plans on working with residential and commercial real estate. And, she says she can't do it without her "Director of First Impressions," aka former Mayor Mike Yakes.

"I think we're gonna make a great team," Yakes said.

That's right, although Mike Yakes retired from 27 years of public service in March, he's not taking a break anytime soon. Yakes is Guenther's right hand man at Maddy G Realty.

"Who knows Gulfport better than us?" Yakes said.

Yakes says he excited to work with Guenther and share his expertise of the city.

"I'm a Florida boy," he said.

Yakes believes his knowledge of the city's housing and history, amenities, services and "pulse" of the city will benefit those looking to move to Gulfport.

"I'm excited," Yakes said.

Yakes will help Guenther at the office, answer phones, set up appointments and help people look for homes on the market. Just stop in and you'll see the brand new touchscreen computer. From there, costumers can find what they're looking for and print information before leaving the office.

"I think he'll be a great asset," Guenther said.

Maddy hopes to bring her real estate experience, pulse of the market and marketing experience to create the winning combination for clients moving to and from Gulfport.
