Stolen Bicycle Recovered on Craigslist, Police Say

Gulfport Police arrested a man accused of stealing a bicycle and trying to sell it on Craigslist. According to reports, the man was also arrested on drug charges.

A 19-year-old Gulfport man was arrested April 23 after a woman found her stolen bicycle listed for sale on Craigslist and contacted authorities, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's report.

According to the arrest report, the victim told police that Tyler Marquis went into her carport during the night of April 22-23 and cut the cable lock on her $429 bike. The woman later spotted her bicycle for sale on Craigslist for $80 and arranged to meet Marquis to buy the bike, according to reports. She told police that she matched the serial number and determined it was her bike.

After Marquis was arrested for the charges of grand theft, dealing in stolen property by use of Internet, burglary and grand theft, officers searched his home.

During the search, police say they found nearly 50 grams of marijuana and charged Marquis with possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Marquis is currently awaiting trial. Bail is set at $30,150 for all five charges.
