(jacksonville.com) — Downtown Jacksonville’s NAVI autonomous shuttles are now free to ride after JTA voted to eliminate fares, even as the $65 million project faces criticism over costs and vehicle design. The 3.5‑mile Bay Street route runs weekdays and is part of broader plans to better connect downtown neighborhoods and support a more accessible urban core.

Man convicted of sexual assault may have other victims, Jacksonville police say (actionnewsjax.com) — Jacksonville police are warning that a man already serving 30 years for a 2022 sexual assault in Jacksonville Beach may have additional local victims. Investigators released multiple mugshots and are urging anyone who recognizes him or believes they were harmed to contact JSO’s Special Assault Unit detectives at 904-630-2168.

3. City faces challenges as cold weather hits and unhoused residents continue to camp overnight despite ban (news4jax.com) — As temperatures in Jacksonville drop into the 30s, unhoused residents are still camping downtown despite a year-old ban on overnight public camping and limited shelter space. Outreach teams say their 110 contracted beds are full nightly, while city officials report people arriving from other counties and warn that abandoned homes and strained resources are complicating efforts to keep vulnerable residents safe.

4. 'You will be caught': Family speaks after Jacksonville father killed outside Paxon Shopping Center (firstcoastnews.com) — A Jacksonville father was shot and killed outside Paxon Shopping Center on Edgewood Avenue, and his family is pleading for answers as detectives investigate.
