The case involved a possible trip toward Alabama in a blue Honda Accord, and authorities had urged anyone spotting the vehicle or children to contact the Lake City Police Department or call 911.

She was riding with her brother, who was not hurt, and neighbors say the driver, believed to be the children’s father, is devastated by what they describe as a tragic accident.
   

• Girl with special needs rescued from roof of Lake City PetSmart (firstcoastnews.com) — A 12-year-old girl with special needs was safely rescued Wednesday night after being found on the roof of the Lake City PetSmart in the Lake City Commons shopping center. Lake City firefighters used a ladder truck and ground ladder to reach her and reunite her with her mother, and officials say no one was injured thanks to the crews’ training and quick response.
