DeSantis was at The Villages 55-and-over community Monday to unveil a new testing site there in partnership with the University of Florida.

"If you do not meet even broad screening criteria to have your sample clinically tested, you can still elect to have your sample tested by a separate UF-developed test for COVID," the governor said. "That will go into research to be able to determine how prevalent COVID-19 is among asymptomatic individuals."

DeSantis said people do not need to be a resident of the The Villages to be tested there. Click here for more information.

Unlike the other testing sites, people will also be able to drive up for testing in The Villages on golf carts or motor vehicles.

Palm Beach County, which is just north of Broward County, has 89 cases. Those three South Florida counties, and particularly Broward and Miami-Dade counties, account for more than half of all Florida cases.
