Police Investigate Two Fatal Separate Crashes In Close Proximity On Kathleen Road

Lakeland police investigated separate crashes that both had fatalities on Kathleen Road within a short time period.

LAKELAND, FL — Two fatal crashes happened within hours of each other on Kathleen Road in Lakeland, a police news release said.

The first one occurred Monday night near the 1000 block of Kathleen Road, investigators said. A Hyundai car smashed into the raised median as the driver navigated a curve at approximately 9:45. The car then ran into a tree in the median, detectives said.

On Monday, November 29, 2021, at approximately 9:43 p.m., officers responded to a traffic crash involving a single vehicle near the 1000 block of Kathleen Road. According to reports, just prior to the crash, a Hyundai sedan was traveling northbound on Kathleen Road. As the vehicle was attempting to negotiate the curve of the roadway, it struck the raised median and subsequently impacted a tree located in the median.

The second wreck on Kathleen Road occurred Tuesday morning. A 23-year-old motorcyclist died when his bike rammed into the passenger side of a Hyundai car at 8:45 near Quincy Street on Kathleen Road southbound, police said.
