5 Injured In FL Crash Involving Fire Rescue Battalion Chief
A crash that injured 5 people and involved the Polk County Fire Rescue battalion chief triggered a mass casualty incident, officials said.

BARTOW, FL — Five people were injured Sunday morning in a two-vehicle crash involving a Polk County Fire Rescue battalion chief, Polk County officials said in a news release.
The crash happened around 10:40 a.m. at the intersection of County Road 640 and Mimosa Avenue in Bartow.
The battalion chief, who was uninjured, was responding to an emergency call at the time, and had his lights and sirens on, officials said.

Five people, including one trauma-alert patient, were treated at the scene and brought to area hospitals by ambulance for treatment.
The number of patients triggered a level one mass casualty incident, officials said.
