Haines City Police Search For Shooter In Grocery Store Attack

Police are asking for the public's help in finding the person or persons who opened fire at the Family Discount Supermarket​.

HAINES CITY, FL — Police are asking for the public's help in finding the person or persons who opened fire at the Family Discount Supermarket over Easter weekend. The attack left three people wounded and put others in harm's way.

"Officers are looking for witnesses to come forward and provide sworn testimony regarding the identity of the individual or individuals that pulled the trigger during an incident where about 20 shots were fired before 9 p.m.," according to Mike Ferguson of the Haines City Police Department.

Ferguson said three men ages 22, 23 and 25 suffered non life-threatening injuries in the Saturday night attack. One was shot in the shoulder while another was shot in the knee and the third was shot in the ankle.

"All three stated that they did not wish to cooperate with the investigation nor would they identify who shot them," Ferguson said.

Heartland Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $3,000 for information that helps solve the case. The business is located at 1604 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way.

"Although the shooting victims were uncooperative, police are looking for anyone present at the scene or with knowledge of the incident to come forward," Ferguson said. "Patrons and employees inside and outside of the store, who were not associated with the apparent dispute, were put in grave danger as shots were fired."
