Lakeland Firefighters Calendar Shows Some Skin To Help Rescued Animals

LAKELAND, FL — Their livelihoods depend on them staying healthy and strong, and this 2023 calendar from the Lakeland Fire Department leaves no doubt that these firefighters are fit for duty.

This fun calendar shows a lighter side to Lakeland's firefighters who spend their days responding to fires, car crashes and medical emergencies.

In a partnership with the SPCA Florida that dates back to 2015, members of the Lakeland Fire Department were paired with adorable rescued dogs and cats from the SPCA Florida for the 2023 Rescued Pets Calendar.

Each month of the year also includes helpful safety tips and facts about both organizations.

Money raised from the sales of the calendar help pay for the treatment of animals rescued by firefighters at the SPCA Florida’s Reva McClurg Medical Center. Calendar proceeds will also purchase emergency veterinary equipment, such as the pet oxygen masks used by Lakeland firefighters to revive pets that are overcome by smoke inhalation.

The 2023 Rescued Pets Calendar can be purchased for a $10 donation. Cash and checks are accepted at all sites. Credit cards are only accepted online, at the SPCA Florida’s Medical Center, the Adoption Center and the Administration Building at 5850 Branen Road S, Lakeland.

The calendars also can be purchased at the Lakeland Fire Department Administration Building at 701 E. Main St., Lakeland.
