Lakeland Mom, 2 Kids Killed In Crash: Reports

LAKELAND, FL — A Lakeland mother and two of her children, ages 6 and 14, were killed in a crash Monday night, according to reports.

A 2015 red Cadillac SUV collided with a 2016 black Dodge Challenger around 8 p.m. Monday on Kathleen Road, WESH-TV reported. The Cadillac was making a left turn when it crossed into the Challenger's path. The Cadillac rolled and crashed into a poll, according to the report.

The man driving the Cadillac was thrown from the SUV, along with three children who were passengers. The passenger in the front right side of the vehicle died at the scene, and two children later died, according to the report.

Mavaria Carter, 33, died in the crash, along with her 6-year-old daughter and 14-year-old son, The Ledger newspaper reported. Two other family members were critically injured in the crash, according to the newspaper.

The driver of the Challenger was not seriously hurt.
