Construction Worker Takes Harmful Revenge On A Man For Accusing Him Of Drinking On Job
Police accused a construction worker of trying to kill a man with a box cutter after he said the suspect had been drinking on the job.
POLK COUNTY, FL — A 22-year-old man is accused of trying to kill his co-worker with a box cutter Saturday at a construction site in unincorporated Davenport, Polk County Sheriff's Office said.
Nelson Carpio Garcia and two of his coworkers were working on a home under construction on Oak Reflection Loop and Ernie Caldwell Boulevard. At some point during the workday, Garcia got into an argument after he was accused of drinking on the job by one of the men, investigators said. He retrieved a box cutter and allegedly cut the victim multiple times on his neck and chest, according to officers. Garcia ran away from the location following the fight. A medical helicopter airlifted the victim to a local hospital. He has since been released from medical care as of Monday.
Deputies later found Garcia near Bargain Barn and U.S. Highway 17/92 with the help of canine teams and the aviation unit. He told officers he did attempt to kill his coworker. Detectives got the box cutter from him after they found him, and it went through processing, cops said.

“This is the second time in a year that Garcia, who should not even be in the country, has been arrested. In 2020, we notified ICE when he was booked into our jail and they picked him up," Sheriff Grady Judd said. "Now he’s back, trying to murder our citizens. Luckily, the victim wasn’t killed and should make a full recovery.”
Garcia faces a charge of attempted first degree murder, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
