Mulberry’s Loyce E. Harpe Park To Reopen On Saturday

The park, which was being used as a hurricane debris collection site, will be open to the public from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.

MULBERRY, FL — Loyce E. Harpe Park at 300 W Carter Road, Mulberry, which has been partially closed to the public since Hurricane Ian, is set to expand its hours.

The park, which was being used as a hurricane debris collection site, will be open to the public from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. starting on Saturday, Dec. 17. The senior baseball field will remain closed.

Loyce E. Harpe Park is popular among youth sports teams and mountain bikers. Formerly a phosphate mining site, the park has multiuse fields, Little League baseball fields, soccer fields and softball fields, as well as a skate park, disc golf and a dog park.

“The park served as a great resource during the Hurricane Ian cleanup, but we’re excited to see it used again by the community as a place to play and relax,” said Derek Harpe, recreation superintendent of Polk County’s Parks and Natural Resources Division.
