Polk County Man Wins $5M From FL Lottery Scratch Ticket

The Winter Haven man claimed his prize after purchasing the winning $20 Gold Rush Limited scratch ticket at Haines City Food Mart.

WINTER HAVEN, FL — A Polk County man is $5 million richer after winning the top prize on a Florida Lottery scratch-off ticket, according to lottery officials.

Rickey Johnson, 66, of Winter Haven, claimed his prize after purchasing the winning $20 Gold Rush Limited scratch ticket at Haines City Food Mart, located at 95 U.S. Highway 17-92 W. in Haines City.

According to lottery officials, Johnson chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $3.96 million. Haines City Food Mart will also receive a $10,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.

The Gold Rush Limited scratch-off game launched in September 2021 and features 32 top prizes of $5 million and 100 prizes of $1 million. The game also has 33,000 available prizes ranging from $1,000 to $100,000. The game's overall odds of winning are 1-in-2.65.
