My family and I have witnessed this first hand in Lakeland, FL. We attended a Mass on Sunday evening. The 'wings' of the church that were sparse just a few weeks ago were mostly full. It isn't yet time for snowbirds.

Will that hold? Time will tell. But it is hopeful.

It is also important. Our society has faced decades of decline in the practice of faith in public worship. While no one thing is 'responsible' for the state of our society, it is a safe to muse - as America's founders did - on the importance of religious practice in our society.

Remember. Scripture is like a library. Taking on quote out of context can be very problematic.

Twenty-eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Reading I 2 Kings 5:14-17

Naaman went down and plunged into the Jordan seven times

at the word of Elisha, the man of God.

His flesh became again like the flesh of a little child,

and he was clean of his leprosy.

Naaman returned with his whole retinue to the man of God.

On his arrival he stood before Elisha and said,

"Now I know that there is no God in all the earth,

except in Israel.
