Uncle Kills Nephew, Injures Niece Then Turns Gun On Himself

POLK CITY, FL - A Polk City man was killed and his wife injured Saturday night when their uncle shot them during an argument and then killed himself, Polk County sheriff's deputies said. The uncle and his wife are from Kentucky and were visiting the Polk City man and woman, their nephew and niece.

The domestic disturbance began when the uncle and his wife went out to dinner, and got into an argument. They returned to the home of their niece and nephew in Polk City, and the arguing continued. The nephew, who tried to intervene, was shot and killed by his uncle, deputies said. The niece ran to her husband, and she was shot. The uncle then shot, and killed himself, according to the sheriff's office. The shootings occurred about 8 p.m. Saturday.

The niece has been taken to Lakeland Regional Health for her injury, along with her aunt, who witnessed the incident.
