Americans for Prosperity Bus Tour Comes to Lutz

The organization's headquarters is one of three stops in the the state before it kicks off a three bus, nationwide tour.

Americans for Prosperity is launching a nationwide "Obama's Failing Agenda" bus tour next week, and local residents got a peek Wednesday.Β

AFP opened its Lutz headquarters in Magnolia Professional Square about two months ago, AFP state director Slade O’Brien said. And the group hopes to keep it open indefinitely, he said.

The buses are in town for the RNC, so the organization decided to visit offices in Lutz, Sarasota and Naples before launching the nationwide tour.

Today's event was mostly a thank you for volunteers, Slade said. About 15 people gathered inside the office to hear from the organization's leaders.

A good turnout, considering there was only a day's notice and it was the middle of the afternoon, Slade said.

According to a press release, the purpose of the tour is to "educate Americans on the most harmful aspects of President Obama’s big-government agenda, and help put grassroots pressure on politicians to turn away from these destructive policies."

The tour includes educational information and a petition addressed to the President for citizens to fill out.
