Carmela’s Restaurant Celebrates 16 Years in The Sunshine State

Carmela's restaurant marks 16 years serving authentic Italian cuisine and Southern favorites in Florida.

Carmela’s, a revered Dunnellon eclectic eatery, is celebrating its 16th year at its Florida location. Owners Ralph and April Estrada have been in business as Carmela’s since 1983; first in Montgomery, NY, and in Dunnellon, FL, since 2000.

“We have built our business in a community that is made up of a lot of people from different parts of the country,” said April. “We enjoy getting to know our customers and the joy we feel when they share their special events with us. We are at the restaurant so much that we feel it is an extension of our home.”

In fact, Carmela’s motto is “Where friends and family meet.” In addition to distinctive Italian cuisine, the restaurant features non-Italian dishes for its “Southern friends,” such as steaks and seafood. Furthermore, Carmela’s has daily specials that aren’t on its regular menu, including salmon, tuna, prime rib, duck and osso bucco. However, the restaurant is revered for its signature menu items, such as chicken Francese, cheese ravioli, veal cutlet parmigiana, eggplant parm, chicken marsala, shrimp scampi, and much more. One of its most popular dishes is the Fisherman’s Platter, which includes mussels, shrimp, clams, calamari and scallops.
