Hurricane Irma: Pasco Needs Volunteers, Donations

Pasco County put out a call for help at its shelters as well as notifications of more closings in the wake of Hurricane Irma.

LAND O’ LAKES, FL – While its residents are heeding mandatory evacuation notices, Pasco County needs help to serve the people who are fleeing from Hurricane Irma.

Pasco County is seeking volunteers to help in shelters throughout the county. It asked for faith-based organizations and other charitable organizations that have volunteers available to call (727) 947-8940. All volunteers for hurricane shelters must have completed a recent background check.

Also, all Pasco County businesses, faith-based organizations and charter schools are asked to consider being an alternate shelter in case additional room is needed to house evacuees from Pasco County and outside the area. To register as an alternate shelter, e-mail OEM@PascoCountyFL.net. Pasco County Building inspectors will be sent to ensure alternate facilities are hurricane ready.
