Island Girl Cakes Adds Pizzazz to Pops

Island Girl Cakes owner Melissa Ramacco has always enjoyed anything creative and related to the arts, she said. In 2009, she began making custom cakes and soon after discovered cake pops, “an exciting twist on cupcakes and a sophisticated alternative to traditional desserts,” according to the Island Girl Cakes website.

“I decided to try my hand at it and was hooked,” Ramacco said. “They were so well received by customers that in 2010 I decided to offer cake pops exclusively, and I haven't looked back.”

Ramacco has lived in Land O’ Lakes for about 13 years, she said. A wife and mom to “two amazing boys,” Ramacco said she has always been crafty, and her business compliments that.

Beyond gifts and party desserts, “cake pops make great favors, addition to candy buffet tables, or an alternative to a traditional wedding cake,” she said.

In addition to classic cake pops with sprinkles or drizzles, Island Girl Cakes offers special designs for all holidays.  

“I also welcome ideas and love to create a unique pop design specific to your event,” she said.

Her favorite cake pop?

“My Totally Solid Chocolate. It is my best seller for a reason!”
