Land O’ Lakes Auto Burglar Caught in Act, Deputies Say

An 18-year-old man is accused of breaking into several vehicles in the Dupree Lakes subdivision.

LAND O’ LAKES, FL — An 18-year-old Land O’ Lakes man faces a number of criminal charges after a witness reportedly spotted him and two other men pulling on the door handles of vehicles parked in the Dupree Lakes subdivision.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, the person who saw Jaylen Jibri Pung and two other men did so as they were trying the handle of a vehicle parked in the 5700 block of Sweet William Terrace around 3:30 a.m. Dec. 7. That witness, in turn, called deputies.

The three ran when they saw deputies arrive in marked cruisers, an arrest report said. Deputies, however, were able to catch up with Pung. The other two men got away, the arrest report noted.

The trio reportedly managed to find six unlocked vehicles before deputies were alerted. All six were parked on Sweet William Terrace. Items stolen included loose change, gift cards and a Victoria’s Secret bag. Deputies noted finding a 9mm Beretta in Pung’s vehicle after they were given permission to search it.

Pung faces several counts of auto burglary following his Wednesday arrest.

An investigation into the case remains active. Deputies are still trying to identify the other two suspects. No further information is available at this time.
