I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand I pay through the nose for my insurance because my employer chose to go the route of the least expense to him and passed the cost along to the employees. I used to have an independent Blue cross policy before the company got large enough to fall under some regulations that stated if the officers had insurance, they had to pass it along to the employees as well. The Blue Cross policy was the best I had versus when I was with the school district, but the district insurance consumed half my check after taxes so that was unattractive as well.

As a small business owner and a health insurance user, I feel that the costs have skyrocketed and my co-pays are outrageous so unless something is really done to cap co pays, deductibles, etc., the health industry will continue to ruin peoples lives as they get ill and cannot afford to cover all the backed prepays, but allowing interstate commerce in the insurance industry should increase competitiveness, I doubt it will because we healthy people are now leveraging all the unhealthy lifestyles in this nation. Are they going to begin drug testingβ€”illegal and over the counter drugs as well as supplements for healthy lifestyleβ€”without consent next to determine a person's risk, then have that drive the premium? As an operational management professional, I just feel there should have been more of a plan to implement the operation and without a sound operational plan, you leave yourself open to fraud and distortion of the systems.
