Land O’ Lakes Stage Soon to Become Reality
The groundbreaking for a new stage at the Land O' Lakes Community Center is set for next week.

LAND O’ LAKES, FL — A dream years in the making for Land O’ Lakes is about to come true. Pasco County intends to break ground on the community’s stage early next week.
The event takes place on Tuesday, Aug. 16 at 8 a.m. at the Land O’ Lakes Community Center, 5401 Land O' Lakes Blvd. Construction on the 1,020-square-foot stage is anticipated to begin in the fall with completion expected in January 2017.
The project is a joint venture between the county, Pasco County Schools and the community. The stage will serve the community as a whole and will also be made available to nearby Sanders Memorial Elementary School. Sanders is the county's first elementary magnet school dedicated to STEAM education, which stands for science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.

“It ties everything together,” said Sandy Graves, president of the Heritage Park Foundation. The grassroots nonprofit has provided support to the park for years while also strongly advocating for construction of a stage. “It gives all of our organizations a facility they can use,” Graves said. “It’s a community gathering place.”
The county credits the community and Heritage Park for championing the project over the years.

“Sandy Graves and the Heritage Park Foundation have been a driving force for building a better community through a better community center,” said Doug Tobin, county spokesman. “Their efforts have helped make this stage possible.”
The stage is part of an overall $2.3 million renovation project at the community center. The initial phase of renovation was unveiled in August 2015 when a ribbon-cutting was held for the center’s new practice field, football field, softball field and .40-mile walking trail. That phase also included the creation of a new concession building, complete with restrooms and a meeting area, along with other upgrades like a new playground.
The Heritage Park Foundation had advocated for renovations at the park for years. The foundation was formed back in 1997.
