Coach John Benedetto spent 32 years as the Land O’ Lakes Gators’ football coach and compiled a 196-149 record during his run at the school. But beyond that record are the hundreds, if not thousands of lives he touched as a coach and as an educator in Land O' Lakes.

Benedetto died in his sleep April 21, according to TampaBay.com. He had just turned 66 on Friday, the website reported.
