State Road 54 Closing for Railroad Crossing Work
CSX is replacing the railroad tracks at the intersection of U.S. Highway 41.

Land O’ Lakes, FL – The Florida Department of Transportation will begin closing lanes on State Road 54 at U.S. Highway 41 on Saturday, July 23 at 8 p.m.
The lane closures, which will be done by FDoT contractor D.A.B. Contractors, will prepare State Road 54 for a full road closure for railroad crossing replacement work.
State Road 54 will be closed at the railroad tracks at 10 p.m., weather permitting. The closure is necessary so CSX can replace the railroad crossing and tracks.
State Road 54 is expected to reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday, July 25.
During the closure, the public will still be able to access local businesses. However, motorists will not be able to cross the railroad tracks. U.S. Highway 41 will remain open during the work.
Vehicles will be detoured around the work zone using U.S. Highway 41, Dale Mabry Highway, Lutz Lake Fern Road, Gunn Highway and State Road 54.
Electronic message boards and detour signs will be used to assist motorists traveling through the detour. Motorists should anticipate heavier than normal volumes of traffic on the detour roads.
For more information about the detours, e-mail roadwork@dot.state.fl.us or call (813) 440-8045.
