Sunlake High Student Accused of Theft, Burglary of Little League Concession Stand

He removed a window and filled a trash can with more than $300 worth of candy, according to the sheriff's office.

A Sunlake High student faces charges of grand theft and burglary after he broke into the Land O' Lakes Little League concession stand just after midnight Friday, according to deputies.

The 16-year-old removed the concession stand window, then filled a trash can with more than $300 worth of candy while another 17-year-old Sunlake student stood as a lookout, according to a Pasco County complaint affidavit.

The teen, whose name is being withheld because of his age, then dragged the trash can across the street and hid it behind some bushes, then took some candy home and hid it under his mattress, according to the report.

The 16-year-old also took some of the candy to school and distributed it to other students, the report stated.

Tips led the sheriff's office to both students, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

The 16-year-old was arrested by a school resource deputy on charges of burglary and grand theft and taken to the Land O' Lakes Juvenile Assessment Center, according to the complaint affidavit.

Because he was the lookout and didn't go into the stand, the 17-year-old was not arrested. It will be up to the state attorney's office to decide whether to charge him, sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll told the Times.
