4 Injured In Ulmerton Road Crash

A Pinellas County Sheriff's Office child investigator was involved in a three-vehicle crash in Largo on Tuesday.

LARGO, FL — The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Tuesday afternoon crash on Ulmerton Road that sent four people to the hospital. Three of injured work for the agency as child protection investigators.

According to the sheriff’s office, Jana Mrkaja, one of its investigators, was heading east on Ulmerton Road in an unmarked agency Ford Fusion around 12:35 p.m. April 4. Mrkaja’s Ford, an email from the sheriff’s office said, was struck on the passenger side by a Mazda driven by 17-year old Ithiphon Lertprotsombat.

The force of the crash caused the Fusion to hit a Hyundai Santa Fe that was being driven by Jennifer Seaman, 52, according to the sheriff’s office. Seaman was sitting in the left turn lane for Coral Way when her car was hit.

Seaman suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Mrkaja and her passengers, fellow child protection investigators Michelle Curd and Tiffany Tury, were also taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
