Police: Armed Suspects Kick in Kitchen Door, Shoot into Residence

A Largo man was arrested Jan. 3 in an alleged home invasion robbery in September.

Salvatore Va, 20, of Largo, was arrested Jan. 3 on a charge of home invasion robbery.

Va and unnamed co-defendants "kicked in the locked kitchen door to the residence armed with a firearm. Defendants entered the residence and the victim fired one round from his firearm after warning the defendants not to come inside the house," according to an arrest affidavit.

The defendants allegedly "fired two rounds in the house narrowly missing the victims," police report.

The identities of the other defendants are not available in jail records at this time.

After Va was read his rights, he admitted to standing in the doorway with the co-defendants, but denied going into the house or using a firearm, police report.

Va told police he "had no knowledge of the co-defendants' inent on robbing the victim," police report.

The "intended victim" in the case was not home on Sept. 14 at the time of the robbery, police report.

Va's DNA was found at the crime scene, police report.
