Update: Water Main Break Affects Traffic on Seminole Blvd.

Flooding from a 12-inch water main break is blocking southbound traffic at 8th Avenue and Seminole Blvd., according to Pinellas County.

UPDATE, 3:20 p.m. on August 1: Stormwater upgrades continue on 8th Avenue westbound. The area is closed to traffic. The broken water main will be repaired along with the upgrade work. The water main may be back online as early as August 2. No households are without water during this work, city officials wrote.Β 

UPDATE, 2:13 p.m. on July 31:

The broken 12-inch water main has been shut down, and southbound traffic on Seminole Boulevard has been restored, officials said.

Response crews are working to provide temporary water service to the affected homes. The actual break was just northwestΒ of Seminole Boulevard on 8thΒ Avenue Southwest.

Drinking water service is turned off in the area of 8th Avenue SW and Seminole Blvd. About 15 to 25 properties will be without water until temporary water service can be installed. Authorities estimate the service interruption will last until around 5 p.m. today, according to an e-mail from Pinellas County.

The Department of Environment and Infrastructure's water quality section has been notified. They will contact affected residents while crews work on the repairs.
