LARGO, FL — Creative Pinellas and the city of South Pasadena have announced a new mural project in the city of South Pasadena.

There will be six to eight mural opportunities on Pasadena Avenue to further the beautification of this community through arts by local muralists that live and work in the surrounding areas. This is a project created to bring color and vibrancy to the community of South Pasadena by bringing in experienced mural artists with a strong point of view and the ability to create complex, engaging works of art.

“We are excited about this partnership with the city of South Pasadena and the opportunity to create more work for local artists while beautifying this city with high-quality, vibrant, public art,” said Creative Pinellas CEO Barbara St. Clair. “This South Pasadena Mural Project adds even more beauty to the area and further enhances the Arts Coast experience.”

The South Pasadena Mural Project is a partnership with the goal of creating appealing spaces that uplift, intrigue and show what makes South Pasadena special and to beautify the commercial corridor. The goal will be for people to slow down, see the murals, and view what South Pasadena has to offer to locals and tourists alike while also giving residents and local businesses pride in their city.

“I am thrilled to see this initiative come to fruition,” said Mayor Arthur Penny. “South Pasadena is a beautiful city and the addition of these murals will only enhance our unique charm and character. I would encourage our local businesses to embrace this opportunity and let us add some color to your walls and our community.”

Creative Pinellas and the city of South Pasadena would like the opportunity to engage with South Pasadena residents, business owners or those who work in the area to tell them more about the project through a future community meeting and encourage them to share their thoughts on the project by taking a community survey here.

“The goal of the project is to make the city more visible through the installation of vibrant and impactful public art,” said City Administrator Carley Lewis. “We look forward to collaborating with Creative Pinellas, local businesses, artists and members of the public to enrich the area and add life to the streetscape.”

Full details for this project will be announced soon. For additional information on the mural program, contact Cory Robinson, arts project manager at Creative Pinellas at muralarts@creativepinellas.org.
