Deputies to Deliver Easter Meals to Families in Need
Thursday, deputies, firefighters and church volunteers will deliver the foods to 70-plus families in Pinellas County. .
More than 70 families in need throughout Pinellas County will be celebrating Easter this weekend with a hearty meal provided by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, Pinellas Suncoast Fire & Rescue District and Calvary Episcopal Church.Â
Thursday, deputies with the community policing unit, firefighters and church volunteers will be meeting at 3 p.m. at the loading dock behind the Publix at 12022 Indian Rocks Rd. in Largo to pick up the meals.Â
According to a news release, the Calvary Episcopal Church of Indian Rocks Beach is heading the event. Â

The Church brought together government agencies, community clubs, and private companies to raise money to provide holiday meals for families in need this Easter, the sheriff's office said.
Pinellas deputies with the Community Policing Unit, along with the Greater Ridgecrest Area Youth Development Initiative (GRAYDI), the Highpoint Family Center and Rainbow Village helped to identify the families through their daily work in the community.

Publix is providing the meals at a reduced rate, a news release said. Â
The meal includes a fully cooked ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, bag of navy beans, apple juice, white sliced bread, peanut butter, grape jelly, Little Debbie Easter cakes, jelly beans, mac n cheese, Ritz crackers, sliced pineapples, and heating instructions.
After picking up the food Thursday, the deputies will then be traveling to dozens of homes in the Ridgecrest, Highpoint and Lealman areas.
This is the ninth year for the event and the partnership between the organizations.Â
