Largo Board Will Weigh in on Parking

The Community Development Advisory Board looks tonight at the city's parking strategy.

When come to Largo, they sometimes ask for waivers to the city's parking requirements.

Largo requires more parking than some area communities, according to a report by the consultants at Kimley-Horn.

Tonight the CDAB will look at a draft parking proposal and consider next steps for parking in Largo. A draft report will then be shared with the Largo City Commission at its work session on Sept. 11.

The draft parking report focuses on a variety of factors:

  • Review amount of parking at multi-family complexes.
  • Create a single standard way to calculate parking requirements based on building area.
  • Use shared parking to help reduce the need for off-street parking.
  • Explore ways to provide more on street parking especially in the community redevelopment areas.
