Largo Police Deputy Chief Heads to the FBI National Academy

Deputy Chief Jeff Undestad was selected recently to attend the prestigious academy this fall.

Undestad will be the 14th member of the Largo Police Department to attend the internationally known FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

The FBI National Academy program offers 10 weeks of advanced investigative, management, and fitness training.  Law enforcement professionals come from around the world to attend the academy. On average, selected officers have 19 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to
serve in executive level positions.

Undestad began his career with the Largo Police Department as an officer in 1990. He was promoted to police sergeant in 1999, to police lieutenant in 2001, police captain in 2007 and to his current rank of Deputy Chief of Police in June, 2010.

In addition to the above mentioned professional ranks, he has served in a
variety of assignments including: evidence technician, K-9 Handler, Tactical
Apprehension and Control (TAC) Team member, TAC Team Commander, Volunteers Policing Coordinator, Patrol Shift Commander, Investigations Commander, and the Commander of the Office of Professional Standards.

Undestad is married with two sons.  As a family, they enjoy watching football and outdoor activities including hunting and camping.  He will attend the 251st session of the FBI's National Academy in the fall of this year.

Upon graduation from the National Academy, he will join a list of 13 previous
attendees from the Largo Police Department.  Four of these 13 previous
