Largo Police Investigate Apparent Hit and Run

The Largo Police continue to sort out the details of an early morning crash near 66th St. North and 142nd Avenue.

A woman was seriously injured and taken to Bayfront Hospital in a crash that occurred around 1 a.m. this morning. Two children, who were also in the black Chevy Cobalt with the woman, were transported to the hospital as well, said Lt. Mike Loux of the Largo Police Department.

The reason for the crash between the black car and a white Escalade is uncertain. The parties involved gave the police conflicting statements, Loux said.

Someone driving the white vehicle turned in front of the black car heading south on 66th Street North and "t-boned" the vehicle, ABC Action News reported based on preliminary information.Β

The Escalade reportedly left the scene of the crash and was found by Whispering Pines. The person who was driving the vehicle at that time was arrested on unknown charges. The police do not know if the driver they arrested was the same person who was involved in the crash, Loux said.

The investigation is ongoing.
