Man, 53, Killed In U.S. 19 Pedestrian Crash
A 53-year-old man is dead following a Friday morning crash on U.S. 19 near Ulmerton Road.

LARGO, FL — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a Friday morning crash that left a 53-year-old Pinellas Park man dead.
According to the agency, Eric Babcock, 29, of Clearwater was driving north in the center lane of U.S. 19 around 2:30 a.m. March 17. As Babcock’s Toyota Corolla approached the intersection of Ulmerton Road, troopers say James Anthony Speaks was walking west across U.S. 19.
Speaks walked into the path of the oncoming Toyota and was struck by the vehicle, a highway patrol report said. Speaks died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation with charges pending the outcome. Troopers say alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
